Welcome to Touching Tables!
At Touching Tables, we are passionate about bringing you the vibrant, diverse, and delicious world of meaty and meatless cuisine inspired by the rich cultures of Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Our mission is to showcase how cooking can celebrate the bold flavors, traditional techniques, and unique ingredients of these incredible regions.
Our Story
Founded by a true food enthusiast and cultural explorer, Touching Tables was born out of a love for the dynamic and flavorful cuisines of Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. We saw a gap in the vegetarian food space that was not only about presenting vegetable-forward alternatives but also about honoring the traditional dishes and culinary traditions that make these cuisines so special.
Our blog is a fusion of tradition and creativity, where we embrace the essence of authentic recipes and adapt them to be vegetarian, all while preserving the rich cultural narratives and flavors that define these regions.
What We Do
- Celebrate Cultural Cuisine: We delve into the heart of African, Caribbean, and Latin American culinary traditions, offering you both meat-option and vegetarian-option recipes that stay true to the essence of these vibrant cultures.
- Explore Diverse Flavors: Our recipes highlight the bold spices and unique ingredients (or alternatives!) that make these cuisines so beloved. From West African stews to Caribbean curries and Latin American tacos, we bring a taste of the world from our table to yours.
- Promote Flexible Eating: By focusing on meat-option and vegetarian-option recipes, we aim to show how eating can be both flexible and delicious. Our dishes are designed to be satisfying and wholesome, demonstrating that you don’t have to sacrifice flavor for vegetables!
- Share Stories and Traditions: We believe that food is a bridge to understanding and appreciating different cultures. We also believe that food is best when shared and with our recipes, no one has to miss out just because they don’t eat meat.
- Why We Don’t Offer Photos: We believe that the story behind the food is just as important as the food itself. While we understand the appeal of photos, we’ve chosen to focus on the experience of cooking, the flavors, and the cultural narratives behind each dish. This is an invitation to engage with the recipes in a way that sparks imagination and connects to the essence of the food. Picture yourself in the kitchen with us learning, creating, and enjoying the process, not just the final result. Without photos, we encourage a deeper, more meaningful connection to the recipes and the traditions that inspire them.

“So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)
