Easy Southern Style Peach Cobbler | With Canned Peaches
A warm, comforting classic made with sweet canned peaches and a buttery, biscuit-like topping. Baked to golden perfection. Served fresh from the oven, best its own or with creamy vanilla ice cream.
2cansof sliced peaches in syrupdrained; juice reserved
1cupgranulated sugar
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1/2teaspoonground nutmeg
1tablespoonlemon juice
1cupall-purpose flour
1tablespoonbaking powder
1/2teaspoonsalt
1cupmilk
1/2cupunsalted buttermelted
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
Prepare the Peach Filling:
In a medium bowl, combine the drained peaches, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
Stir well to coat the peaches in the sweet spice mixture.
Pour the peach filling evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Make the Cobbler Topping:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be a bit lumpy.
Assemble the Cobbler:
Spoon the cobbler batter over the peaches in the baking dish.
( It's okay if it’s uneven. The batter will spread out as it bakes.)
Bake the Cobbler:
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges.
Serve and Enjoy:
Once the cobbler is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream
